What’s New at STP

MER Island, Tagai State College

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Tagai State CollegeThe Tagai State College, on Mer Island in the Torres Strait, is a 150 student facility commissioned by Project Services for the Island community. The school incorporates a full size rugby league field and an undercover basketball court to promote sport for the children within the local community. The building structures are demountable style remote buildings with rainwater harvesting designed for reuse within the school grounds. The site of the development is located on steep terrain on the side of an extinct volcano. Additional briefs of designing a 1.5km access road and also connecting the school to the island sewerage treatment plant added further challenges to the team. STP Director Trevor Slogrove and Stephen Tobias led our design team to deliver this top class education facility.
